Description
Having a c-section scar can cause:
– Swelling, discomfort and numbness on the scar itself and around it
– hip and back pain
– itchiness
– and even mobility issues, such as restriction when exercising or any kind of movement.
It’s not just the skin that has been cut in a c-section but layers of tissue underneath. This can cause adhesions which stick between two internal parts of the scar tissue that can form during wound healing. The tissue can get “scrunched up” around the lower belly and that can cause difficulty in straightening your hip.
All these conditions usually go away after the first couple of months of giving birth. But they can still appear after that period of time.
Scar massage can help to reduce these issues.
– By stimulating the area, this helps to reduce the thick nature of the scar.
– It can help to reduce the “tensional” pull on the scar tissue.
– Manual therapy can help to direct the lymph flow away from the damaged area therefore allowing the body to become less oedematous (swollen) in that area.
Each session lasts approximately one hour. The session for all new clients will take an extra 15 minutes in order to complete a health intake questionnaire.
