When we have a cut or surgical incision, like after a C-section, our body forms scar tissue to close the wound and protect us from infection. While this is an amazing natural process, scar tissue is tougher and less flexible than normal tissue. It can cause the abdomen to feel tight, restricted, or even “stuck.”

Sometimes, scar tissue forms adhesions which are internal bands that can connect the scar to nearby organs such as the uterus, bladder, or bowels. This can lead to symptoms like:

Pain or sensitivity

Numbness

Tightness or bloating

Overhang (a fold of skin above the scar)

Scar massage can help relieve many of these symptoms. It encourages mobility, reduces discomfort, and may even improve the appearance of the scar over time.
